What’s new in my world? A LOT!

The end of 2010 saw the beginning of the candle company, Seven Paper Hearts, that I started with two high school friends, Grace and Brandon. We have been doing very well and hope for growth in 2011, our first full year!

I’m working the GRAMMY in the Schools Live event on Wednesday. I did the event last year and it was a blast!

I don’t write specifically about bands or albums other than the list of music purchases at the bottom, but I want to talk about the band, The Script. They are so incredibly talented! I remember liking Danny and Mark when they were in the boy band, Mytown. Yes, I was big on the boy bands back in the 90s. What teenage girl wasn’t?!

But seriously, their music and lyrics are a work of art. I was able to buy the ‘import’ version of their album on Amazon, so I received it at least two or three months before the US release, and I was just blown away. I also saw them in concert and they were really good! I definitely recommend checking them out!

I’ve got big plans for 2011! One plan is to update this website more often. Ha! However, I do intend to revamp the look of this site when I get time. It’ll look better than ever! In all seriousness, enjoy this year and live life the way it’s supposed to be lived!

Until next time,
-Tiffany

In September I went to Nashville for a few days. I was able to see some Grammy Camp friends, which I was really happy about! It was a nice break from the regular routine and I definitely understood why it’s nicknamed the ‘Music City’. Check out my photos here.

Other than that, I’m just trying to immerse myself in all aspects of music, which includes searching for new music, going to shows, making my own, and mixing songs.

First of all, GRAMMY Camp 2010 was AMAZING. I cannot say enough about it, and could literally talk about it for days. I met so many incredible people and witnessed the making of some awesome songs by some talented musicians.
The Camp was at USC once again, and the campers were there for 10 days while the staff and counselors were there for 14 days. Some of the guest artists included Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael from Maroon 5, Colbie Caillat, Tricky Stewart, Ed Cherney, and more. The final showcase concert was held at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, and it was an absolutely amazing show!
Nearly three weeks later, I am still missing GRAMMY Camp. I miss all the friends I made and being in this world completely immersed in music. All good things must come to an end, but I must say it was a life changing experience. It has inspired me for the second year in a row, and hope it continues that way! Memories live on through my photos!

Things are going well for me. I am exclusively at Larrabee Studios in North Hollywood after my promotion to an assistant engineer position. I’m excited for this and have already worked with some cool artists.

As far photography goes, my photos are now up on Paramount Recording Studios’ website. My photo for mixing engineer Jaycen Joshua is featured in Sound on Sound magazine, which will be released in the coming month or two.

I think for the most part, most people consider their lives unexciting. Sometimes I’ll catch up with friends I haven’t talked to in awhile, and they’ll ask me what’s going on as if my life is very interesting. Well, I wouldn’t say mine is super exciting, but I guess there is a steady flow of things going on. Sometimes exciting can be too overwhelming!

Recently, I finished up a photography gig with my co-worker/friend, Matt, shooting Paramount, Encore, and Ameraycan Studios. The photos will be featured on their website (not on there currently as of early June). In the near future, I’m scheduled to have a photo shoot with mixing engineer, Jaycen Joshua, which along with the article, will be featured in Sound on Sound magazine.

I saw Minus The Bear live at The Mayan in downtown L.A. I think it was the first concert I’ve seen since Snow Patrol in October. I told myself at least four or five times before that I would see MTB when they were in town, but never got to it until May. They were good, so I’m glad I finally saw them!

In July, I’m doing GRAMMY Camp again for two weeks. I’m excited for it!

I started playing guitar and songwriting again. I can’t tell you how good it feels! The other day, I headed out to El Matador Beach with my friends, Matt and Richey. The view was amazing! What’s there not to love about the west coast??

There is something very soothing about listening to music in the car. I find that listening to music in the car, through headphones, or on the computer are all totally different experiences even if you are listening to the exact same song. I spend a lot of time in my car, so that is mainly how I listen to music.

I’m really excited for the session with Northern Son (check out video above). Updates when I get back of course. Knowing my crazy schedule, the update will come in May.

I bought this book and briefly started out this photo technique called HDR (high dynamic range) photography. I’ve only done it a few times, but I’m hoping to take some stellar photos with this new trick.
